Acing in Finding Sample APA Psychology Research Paper

If you are tasked with writing an APA psychology research paper you need to be aware of the requirements. An APA style paper requires the following sections:

  • Cover page
  • Abstract
  • Introduction
  • Literature review
  • Methodology
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusions
  • Reference page

Sometimes you may not need all of these sections, but in any case you need to refer to the APA manual in order to properly cite all of your sources.

This is an essay wherein you examine, interpret, or analyze things. You can do this for a poem, play, event, book, etc…

What are the most important qualities for this style of essay?

This style of essay needs:

An introduction and presentation of the argument

The introduction is where you tell the reader the text or piece of art that you are going to discuss. Each literary work raises questions and your job, in the introduction, is to define what questions you are going to answer or what idea you are going to examine. This is where you place your thesis and narrow the focus of your paper.

An analysis of the text

The issue that you select for analysis must be connected to your argument. Once you have stated the issue, it is time to present the argument. When you are analyzing something, you should pay close attention to the stylistic devises that are used by the author to convey a certain meaning. It is up to you to decide if the author successfully conveyed their ideas to the reader. Make sure you support any assumptions with reasonable judgment in conjunction with examples.

A personal response

Your response is where you offer deeper understanding of the text. It is where you provide a personal response to the text. Do not think that you are confined to a positive response. You do not have to like the text. If the writer is trying to convince you of one position, and they fail to do so, say that. You are supposed to be critical of the text. Base your objections, should you have them, on the text and cite the text as your evidence. A personal response should be evidenced throughout your paper, but you do not say it directly until the end.

A conclusion

Here is where you explain the relationship between the text that you analyzed and the argument you just presented to the reader.
